Demonstration of adhesion forces due to contact liquid taking to glass plates as an example

What is adhesion?

Adhesion is a physical force connecting different substances with each other on a molecular level. For this, the molecules of both materials must be brought in immediate vicinity to each other, i.e. in close surface contact. Very smooth surfaces suitable from a material point of view (e.g. plastic protective film on mobile phone display) can generate an already sufficiently strong adhesive force by means of slight pressing.

However, even significant adhesive connections can also be implemented between less or only apparently smooth surfaces or such surfaces that are rather not suitable for this from a material point of view by means of inserting a fluid between the bodies (e.g. between glass plates). The mechanism of action of adhesives is also based on adhesion, at least partially.

Objective of the test:

  1.  Illustration of the adhesion as a physical force.
  2.  Demonstrating the formation of adhesion due to contact liquid between bodies.

Test record and implementation

  1. A smooth glass plate (100x100x5mm) is fixed to a worktop by means of four double-side suction cups diameter 35mm) by means of vacuum.
  2.  On the external ends of a second glass plate (microscopy slides, 76x26x1.0mm) to suction cup supports (diameter: 20mm) are attached by means of vacuum that are used to push a connecting pin through.
  3. The glass plates are pressed against each other initially without and then with contact liquid PROMaster Comfort&Care (silicone oil with medium viscosity).
  4.
  5. Note: In order to demonstrate that the glass plates are not glued to each other, the plates are moved horizontally.
  6.
  7.  A spring balance that is engaged in the centre of the connecting pin (display range: 0-2500g) is used to determine the force required to separate the two glass plates vertically.

Observation:

  • a) Without contact liquid PROMaster Comfort&Care the two glass plates can be separated without noticeable deflection of the spring balance.
  • b) With contact liquid PROMaster Comfort&Care between the glass plates the glass plates can be separated at a pulling force of approx. 2450g (approx. 2.5kg).

Interpretation / conclusion

Although the glass plates are firmly brought into close (smooth) contact with each other, no noteworthy adhesion is formed on the basis of the specific material characteristics. Thus, the measurable, significant adhesive bonding forces are only created by the contact agent PROMaster Comfort&Care.

Importance and creation of adhesion for the penis expander PeniMaster PRO

The contact liquid PROMaster Comfort&Care is a synthetic gliding agent that can be used to achieve significant adhesive bonding forces when two objects are in close surface contact, whereby these forces are approx. fivefold higher than with water (not documented within the framework of the video test, but demonstrable in the same test setup). The contact area of the glass plates used within the framework of the test approximately corresponds to the maximum adaptive interior area of the adhesion diaphragm fixing the penis in the glans chamber of PeniMaster PRO. Since there is close surface contact between two objects (glans and diaphragm) as well. the glans does not slip off the penis expander despite gliding agent, but is held in position there additionally to the efficient vacuum and positive-locking fixation in an adhesive manner as well.
